Vallabhaneni Vamsi Seeks Bail, Prosecutor Calls for Extended Custody
Vallabhaneni Vamsi, a YSR Congress Party leader and former MLA, who is currently in judicial remand in connection with a kidnapping case, had his bail petition heard today at the SC/ST court in Vijayawada. The Public Prosecutor opposed granting bail, arguing that Vamsi might influence witnesses if released. The prosecutor further stated that crucial information was obtained during police custody interrogation.
According to the prosecution, two other accused individuals in the case admitted that they met Satyavardhan on Vamsi’s instructions. The prosecutor urged the court not to grant bail, asserting that further information needed to be extracted from Vamsi and requesting 10 days of additional custody.
Vamsi's defense lawyers countered these claims, arguing that he had no involvement in Satyavardhan's kidnapping. They alleged that the state government had filed a false case against him. The defense also cited Vamsi's health issues, requesting bail on medical grounds.
After hearing arguments from both sides, the court postponed the next hearing to March 10.
