Congress spokesperson Shama Mohammed’s body-shaming comments about Indian cricket team captain Rohit Sharma have sparked a major controversy. She criticized Sharma’s physique, stating that he was overweight and needed to lose weight. Furthermore, she alleged that his performance was unimpressive, claiming he was the least remarkable captain in India’s history and had become the team leader merely by luck. Shama made these remarks on the social media platform X.

Her comments triggered a political storm, drawing sharp criticism from BJP leaders and cricket fans alike. Even the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) responded, calling her remarks about the Indian captain "unfortunate."

Former Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh’s father, Yograj Singh, also strongly condemned Shama’s statements. He asserted that people who make such remarks about national icons should feel ashamed.

"Such things happen only in Pakistan. These people have no right to live in our country; they should leave immediately," Yograj Singh said.

"I want to make one thing clear—only those who are truly fit for a role should take it on. Otherwise, it leads to disaster. My love for Indian cricketers, our people, and our land is greater than my own life. If any political leader speaks disrespectfully about a player who brings pride to our country, they should be ashamed," he told ANI.

"They have no right to stay in our country. Cricket is our religion. These comments deeply hurt me. Such remarks happen in Pakistan—just like when their former star player said, 'Who eats so many bananas?' to mock Wasim Akram. Action should be taken against those who made such statements about Rohit. This should not be tolerated. If I were the Prime Minister, I would have immediately ordered her to pack her bags and leave the country," Yograj Singh added.
