Center Gives Green Signal for Warangal Airport Development
The development of the Mamnoor Airport near Warangal has received approval from the central government. The Ministry of Civil Aviation has granted permission for the airport’s expansion and operations, issuing an official approval letter to the Airports Authority of India (AAI).
Mamnoor Airport is located within a 150-kilometer radius of Hyderabad International Airport. In this context, the central government has also approved the No Objection Certificate (NOC) issued by Hyderabad Airport. Minister of Civil Aviation, Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu, sanctioned the latest approvals after considering the Telangana government's request.
Previously, GMR Group had an agreement stating that no other airport could operate within a 150-kilometer radius of Shamshabad Airport. However, discussions were held between GMR Group representatives, the Telangana government, and Minister Ram Mohan Naidu regarding this agreement. Following the Telangana government's request and the minister’s intervention, GMR Group agreed to the establishment of Mamnoor Airport.
With this approval, the development work for Mamnoor Airport is set to begin. Minister Ram Mohan Naidu has instructed the Airports Authority of India to expedite the construction process.
