36-Year-Old Suspect Arrested in Pune Bus Stand Crime
In a significant development, Pune Crime Branch police have arrested Dattatraya Ramdas Gade, the accused in a sexual assault case that has sparked widespread outrage. The incident took place at Swargate Bus Stand, one of the busiest transit hubs in Maharashtra, on Tuesday morning.
According to police reports, the 26-year-old victim was waiting for a bus when the suspect approached her, addressing her as “Akka” (sister). He allegedly misled her by claiming that her bus was at a different location and lured her toward the far end of the bus stand. There, he took her inside an idle bus and assaulted her. The crime occurred just 100 meters from a police station, adding to the shock and public outcry surrounding the case.
Following the victim’s complaint, police launched an investigation and identified the suspect as 36-year-old Dattatraya Ramdas Gade using CCTV footage from the bus stand. Authorities revealed that Gade had multiple previous cases against him and had been out on bail since 2019.
A special task force comprising eight teams was deployed to track him down. After an extensive search, police located and arrested Gade from a village in the Shirur tehsil. The government has assured strict action against the accused, emphasizing its commitment to justice in the case.
