₹2.4 Crore Cryptocurrency Fraud Case: Police to Question Tamannaah Bhatia and Kajal Aggarwal
Puducherry police have decided to question actresses Tamannaah Bhatia and Kajal Aggarwal in connection with a ₹2.4 crore cryptocurrency fraud case. The investigation follows a complaint filed by Ashokan, a retired military officer from Moolakulam, Puducherry, who alleged that he and his acquaintances were defrauded by a cryptocurrency investment scheme.
According to Ashokan’s complaint, he was persuaded to invest in cryptocurrency after seeing an advertisement online. Following a meeting with an unidentified individual, he invested ₹10 lakh, which included his post-retirement savings. Later, in 2022, he was invited to a company launch event in Coimbatore, where Tamannaah Bhatia and other celebrities were present. Encouraged by the event and the high-profile endorsements, Ashokan increased his investment to ₹1 crore and convinced ten of his friends to invest a total of ₹2.4 crore in the scheme.
Months later, Ashokan was invited to another event at a luxury hotel in Mahabalipuram, where Kajal Aggarwal attended as a special guest. At this event, over 100 investors were reportedly given cars worth ₹10 lakh to ₹1 crore as rewards. Ashokan, however, opted to receive ₹8 lakh in cash instead of a car.
Subsequently, when the company failed to deliver promised returns, Ashokan filed a complaint with the police, alleging that the company had defrauded him and other investors. In connection with the case, the police have already arrested Nitish Jain (36) and Aravind Kumar (40). Now, the authorities plan to question Tamannaah Bhatia and Kajal Aggarwal regarding their involvement in the events linked to the fraudulent scheme.
