Telangana Government Mandates Telugu in Schools, Issues Official Orders

The Telangana government has issued a directive making the teaching of the Telugu language compulsory in schools across the state. This mandate applies not only to state board schools but also to institutions affiliated with CBSE, ICSE, IB, and other education boards.

According to the government’s order, Telugu will be implemented as a compulsory subject for ninth-grade students starting from the 2025-26 academic year. For tenth-grade students, this requirement will take effect from the 2026-27 academic year. The education department has been instructed to ensure the implementation of these guidelines accordingly.
