AP capital city christened 'Amaravati'
Hyderabad, March 23, 2015: The Andhra Pradesh Government has christened the new capital city to be built at Tulluru in Guntur district as 'Amaravati'.
An official announcement will be issued soon on this, according to reports.
The present Amaravati town, situated 20 km off Tulluru village on the shores of River Krishna, has got immense cultural and historical significance.
To keep the memories of the 2000-year old Amaravati in the minds of the people fresh, the Government has zeroed in on this name to the capital city though several names have been under consideration.
