Telangana Relieves Two IPS Officers for Duty in Andhra Pradesh
The Telangana government has relieved IPS officers Anjani Kumar and Abhilasha Bisht to enable them to assume their responsibilities in Andhra Pradesh. According to a government order (GO) issued by Telangana Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari, the officers were immediately relieved for their new assignments.
Additionally, the state government has written to the Election Commission regarding the transfer of Karimnagar Police Commissioner Abhishek Mohanty. Since Member of Legislative Council (MLC) elections are scheduled in Karimnagar on the 27th of this month, the government has requested the State Chief Electoral Officer to decide on Abhishek Mohanty’s transfer.
The Union Ministry of Home Affairs issued orders on Friday directing Anjani Kumar, Abhilasha Bisht, and Abhishek Mohanty to report for duty in Andhra Pradesh. Following the bifurcation of the state, the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) allocated All India Service officers between the two Telugu states. However, some officers challenged this allocation by approaching the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT), after which the DoPT filed a petition in the High Court. In the wake of subsequent developments, the Ministry of Home Affairs has now instructed these three IPS officers to take up their posts in Andhra Pradesh.
