Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu Boost Handloom Trade with New Partnership

A significant agreement in the handloom textile marketing sector has been reached between APCO (Andhra Pradesh State Handloom Weavers Cooperative Society) and Co-optex (Tamil Nadu Handloom Weavers Cooperative Society). The two organizations have decided to sell each other’s handloom products in their respective showrooms across Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. APCO and Co-optex have set a target of selling textiles worth ₹9.20 crore this year as part of this initiative.

The agreement was formalized during a Buyer-Seller Meet held at a private hotel in Vijayawada on Friday. The event was attended by Andhra Pradesh Handlooms and Textiles Minister S. Savitha and Tamil Nadu Handlooms and Textiles Minister R. Gandhi. APCO Managing Director Pavan Murthy and Co-optex Managing Director Deepak Jacob exchanged the agreement documents in their presence.

As part of this initiative, Tamil Nadu’s handloom textiles will be available for sale at APCO outlets and other business establishments in Andhra Pradesh. Similarly, Andhra Pradesh’s handloom textiles will be sold through Co-optex showrooms and various textile stores across Tamil Nadu.

Government authorities from both states have also signed agreements with multiple organizations from regions including Tiruchirappalli, Madurai, Erode, and Salem in Tamil Nadu, as well as with several firms in Andhra Pradesh.

Minister S. Savitha stated that this agreement would significantly benefit handloom weavers in Andhra Pradesh. Following the signing ceremony, she inaugurated a buyer-seller conference organized by the Tamil Nadu government and visited handloom textile stalls at the event.
