AP Government Dismisses 55 Doctors for Prolonged Absence from Duty
The Andhra Pradesh government has dismissed 55 doctors who had been absent from duty for over a year without applying for leave. The action was taken following a complaint filed with the Lokayukta by Srinivas Goud, a former sarpanch from Uyyuru in Krishna district. He alleged that the absence of doctors was causing significant difficulties for patients.
Taking the complaint seriously, the Lokayukta directed the government to investigate the matter and take appropriate action. Based on these orders, the state government identified the absentee doctors and issued termination orders. Among those dismissed were associate professors and assistant professors.
