Govt shocked as records of encroached lands in TS go missing

Hyderabad, March 22, 2015: Telangana government's plans to garner thousands of crores of rupees by selling government lands and buildings in Hyderabad and other districts of the state have gone astray as it found most of the official records missing. Officials were shocked to find the land records and files missing during digitization of the records. Senior officials now believe that land sharks and influential officials must have grabbed the records too along with the lands and destroyed them together to prevent exposure of their land encroachments. Out of a total of 11, 212 village maps, 795 village maps have gone missing and remained untraceable. 9,48 188 out of the 41, 42, 472 measurement books or tippons and 3329 sethwars out of a total of 11, 212 have gone also missing. Government is of the view that the highly influential people must have taken away the records in connivance with the top officials during period of Telangana agitation. There was no administration for all practical purposes across Telangana during the peaks of T agitation.TS officials believe these records must have disappeared during this chaotic period.
