Minister Nara Lokesh Inaugurates ₹7.5 Crore Advanced Indoor Stadium at Padmavathi University

Tirupati: Andhra Pradesh Minister for Education, IT, and Electronics, Nara Lokesh, inaugurated the newly constructed Khelo India Multipurpose Indoor Stadium at Sri Padmavathi Mahila Visvavidyalayam (SPMVV) in Tirupati. The stadium was built at a cost of ₹7.5 crore with joint funding from the Central Government, the Women’s University, and the Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh (SAAP).

Speaking at the event, Nara Lokesh emphasized the state government’s commitment to developing sports infrastructure and creating an environment conducive to nurturing athletes. He also announced plans to construct a state-of-the-art international cricket stadium and sports complex in Amaravati.

The minister highlighted that the newly inaugurated multipurpose indoor stadium would play a crucial role in training top women athletes at the university. As part of the event, Nara Lokesh engaged with student athletes by playing a brief shuttle game, encouraging them to excel in their respective sports.

Additionally, Lokesh inaugurated aerobics, taekwondo, and yoga meditation centers within the university, which are equipped with modern facilities. He urged the students and athletes to make the best use of these facilities and strive to achieve excellence at state and national levels.

SPMVV Vice-Chancellor Uma expressed her gratitude, stating that the new sports facilities provide an excellent training platform for women athletes at the university.

Chairman of the Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh (SAAP), Animini Ravinaidu, praised the government’s focus on sports development, noting that under the leadership of Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, the administration had been prioritizing sports initiatives. He also commended Nara Lokesh for his proactive efforts in promoting sports infrastructure in the state.

The event was attended by Andhra Pradesh Revenue Minister Anagani Sathya Prasad, District Collector Venkateshwar, SAAP Managing Director Girisha, MLAs Arani Srinivasulu, Pulivarthi Nani, Bojjala Sudheer Reddy, MLC Kancherla Srikanth, Tirupati Municipal Commissioner Mourya, and University Registrar Rajani, among others.
