RGV on Saaree: A Story Inspired by Real Events
Ram Gopal Varma presents the film Saaree, directed by Girish Krishna Kamal. This psychological thriller marks the Telugu debut of actress Aaradhya Devi. The film is set to release on February 28 in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, and Hindi. As the release date approaches, the film's promotional activities have gained momentum.
In a recent interview with Suman TV, Ram Gopal Varma described the film as a psychological thriller. He acknowledged that the title Saaree might not seem directly related to the genre, but emphasized that both are connected. “The entire story revolves around Saaree. In a way, her role is the most crucial in the film. That is why we chose this title,” he explained.
Varma further elaborated on the storyline, stating, “The protagonist is a photographer who sees this girl in a saaree (a veil or scarf). He doesn’t even know her name and remembers her only as ‘the girl in the saaree.’ From that moment, he begins following her. The story is based on an incident that took place in Rajahmundry a few years ago. Due to my busy schedule, I entrusted the film’s direction to Kamal, as I have complete confidence in him.”
