Man Divides Time Between Two Wives, Signs Unusual Bond Agreement in Bihar
In a unique incident in Bihar's Purnia district, a man signed a formal bond agreement at a police station, outlining how he would divide his time between his two wives. The arrangement specifies that he will spend three days a week with his first wife, another three days with his second wife, and keep one day for himself to spend as he pleases.
According to the police, Shankar Shah married his first wife, Poonam, in the year 2000, and the couple has two sons. However, due to marital discord, Shankar secretly married another woman, Usha Devi, seven years ago and started living with her. When Poonam discovered this, she filed a complaint with the police.
Following the complaint, Superintendent of Police Karthikeya Sharma directed the district police’s family counseling center to intervene. The police summoned Shankar, Poonam, and Usha Devi to the Rupouli Police Station for counseling. After discussions, Shankar voluntarily drafted a bond agreement specifying the division of time between his two wives. He also agreed to pay ₹4,000 per month for the maintenance of his two children.
Both Poonam and Usha Devi agreed to the terms and signed the bond, leading to a resolution of the dispute. The police, surprised by the unusual agreement, accepted the arrangement as both women consented to it.
