Nara Lokesh Discusses Investment Opportunities with Taiwanese Delegation
Andhra Pradesh Minister for Education, IT, and Electronics, Nara Lokesh, has sought Taiwan's cooperation in the development of the state's electronics, textiles, and footwear sectors. Lokesh held discussions with Richard Chen, Director General of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Center in Chennai, at his residence in Undavalli.
Taiwan is a global leader in electronics, textiles, and footwear manufacturing. During the meeting, Nara Lokesh inquired about Taiwan’s policies and initiatives in these sectors and discussed the measures taken by Andhra Pradesh to facilitate industrial growth, including policy frameworks, approvals, and government support from project inception to production.
The minister elaborated on the state's "Speed of Doing Business" approach, citing several examples of the government's efforts to attract investments. He highlighted the development of electronics clusters in Tirupati between 2014 and 2019, which provided essential infrastructure and led to the establishment of numerous companies, creating thousands of employment opportunities for the youth.
Lokesh emphasized that these sectors have immense potential to generate jobs for lakhs of young people. He stated that the government is prioritizing them as key focus areas and urged Taiwanese companies looking to expand globally to consider Andhra Pradesh as a destination. He assured full government support for facilitating their operations in the state.
The minister also requested Taiwan’s cooperation in setting up dedicated industrial parks for electronics, textiles, and footwear. In response, the Taiwanese delegation assured their complete support for the development of these sectors in Andhra Pradesh.
The meeting was attended by Richard Chen, Director General of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Center in Chennai, Eric Chang, Managing Director of Nexus Indo Consultancy, and Sai Kanth Varma, CEO of the Economic Development Board, representing the Andhra Pradesh government.
