Jagan on budget: Chandrababu has ditched people lock, stock and barrel

Hyderabad, March 20, 2015: Claiming that he and his party MLAs were not given an opportunity to speak fully on the budgetary issues in the assembly by Speaker Kodela, YSR Congress Party President Y.S.Jagan Mohan Redy on Friday charged the TDP Government with exaggerating budgetary figures and cheating and misleading the people on his unfulfilled poll promises. Addressing media persons on the budget at his Lotus Pond party office here, Jagan Mohan Reddy said the government has drastically reduced the non-plan expenditure besides exaggerating the other budgetary figures. Why were these manipulations made?, he asked. "Before elections, TDP sent letters to each and every house in the name of Chandrababu Naidu promising heaven to the people inclduing the complete waiver of DWAKRA and farm loans. But none of the promises was implemented so far by the TDP Government ," he said, adding Government has been forcing the farmers to bear additional burden in shape of heavy interest because of its failure. Government owes Rs.12,000 Cr to farmers towards interest payment for its failure to implement the loan waiver fully, he observed and added: "It has only allotted Rs.170 Cr in the budget for this purpose." He said as Chandrababu has left the people to their fate, banks have been auctioning the farmers' gold pledged with them. "During the election campaign, Chandrababu gave a blanket assurance that he would fully implement loan waiver but never made any statement on any platform linking it with limitations and restrictions. But after coming to power, he linked it to several limitations," Jagan Mohan Reddy remarked.
