Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman Presents Economic Survey in Lok Sabha
New Delhi: Following the President’s address, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the Economic Survey in the Lok Sabha. It is a customary practice to table the Economic Survey in both Houses of Parliament ahead of the Union Budget presentation. In accordance with this tradition, the survey was introduced in the Lok Sabha.

Subsequently, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla adjourned the House until Saturday. The Economic Survey provides an assessment of the country's economic performance over the past year and outlines anticipated challenges for the upcoming financial year. Initially, from 1950-51, the Economic Survey was presented alongside the Union Budget. However, since 1960, it has been tabled a day before the Budget presentation.

The Economic Survey is prepared by the Economic Division of the Department of Economic Affairs under the Ministry of Finance. The Union Budget is scheduled to be presented in Parliament tomorrow (Saturday) at 11 AM. The first phase of the Budget Session will continue from today until February 13, while the second phase is set to take place from March 10 to April 4.
