Wipro Announces Major Expansion in Hyderabad at Davos Forum

Hyderabad has received a significant boost in the IT sector as Wipro, a leading global IT company, announced the expansion of its campus in the city. The announcement was made during the World Economic Forum Summit in Davos. Wipro plans to establish a new IT center at Gopanpally in Hyderabad’s Financial District. This new center is expected to create direct and indirect employment opportunities for 5,000 people.

The announcement came after a meeting between Wipro Executive Chairman Rishad Premji, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, and IT Minister Sridhar Babu in Davos. Following the discussions, Wipro officially declared its plans for the expansion.

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy welcomed Wipro’s decision and emphasized the state government's commitment to providing a conducive environment and necessary support for renowned companies like Wipro. He stated that Wipro’s expansion will contribute to the growth of the IT sector in Telangana and enhance the state’s reputation as a hub for IT investments. He also noted that the new Wipro center would be completed within two to three years.

Speaking about the development, Rishad Premji expressed his enthusiasm for collaborating with the Telangana government. He said that Wipro is happy to work together to foster innovation and create opportunities in the state. IT Minister Sridhar Babu also urged Wipro to participate in various skill development initiatives implemented by the Telangana government, including partnerships with Skill India University.
