Nara Lokesh Meets Envision CEO Lei Zhang to Discuss Renewable Energy Investments in AP
Andhra Pradesh IT and Industries Minister Nara Lokesh, currently on a tour in Davos, is engaging in discussions with global business leaders to attract investments to the state. As part of his meetings, Lokesh held discussions yesterday with Envision CEO Lei Zhang, whose company is renowned for wind turbine manufacturing.
During the meeting, Lokesh highlighted the favorable ecosystem in Andhra Pradesh for renewable energy investments and invited Lei Zhang to establish a renewable energy equipment manufacturing unit in the state. He assured Zhang of government support, including incentives for such initiatives. Lei Zhang responded positively to the proposal.
Lokesh emphasized that Andhra Pradesh is progressing rapidly under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu. He further shared that the state aims to attract investments worth ₹10 lakh crore in the green hydrogen sector by 2030, creating job opportunities for 7.5 lakh youth. Lokesh explained that the Andhra Pradesh Integrated Clean Energy Policy - 2024 aims to support the manufacturing of renewable energy components and promote the sector’s growth.
The minister also stressed the importance of workforce development for green energy transition projects. He urged the organization of training programs and workshops to enhance the skills of professionals in the renewable energy sector, with a particular focus on startups and emerging projects.
In response, Envision CEO Lei Zhang remarked that Envision has become a leading wind turbine supplier in India with orders for 5 GW in 2023-24. He outlined the company’s current operations, which include advanced manufacturing plants in Pune and Tiruchirappalli for nacelles and blades, with an investment of ₹500 crore and a production capacity of 3 GW annually. Zhang added that Envision is exploring the expansion of its manufacturing capacity in other parts of the country and assured that Andhra Pradesh’s proposal would be discussed with the company’s board of directors before making a final decision.
