Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, senior Indian cricket team players, recently faced heavy criticism for their underwhelming performance in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) series. Struggling to regain their form, the duo has opted to participate in domestic cricket as a way to rebuild their confidence and return to peak performance.

As part of this effort, Rohit Sharma, known as the "Hitman," has started preparing for his return. After practicing with the Mumbai Ranji team, the Indian captain is now set to play in a Ranji Trophy match for the first time since 2015. Mumbai will face Jammu & Kashmir in a match starting on January 23, with a 17-member squad announced for the game. Rohit Sharma is a key inclusion in the lineup.

Ahead of the match, a video of Rohit Sharma practicing with his Mumbai teammates in the Ranji jersey has been circulating widely on social media, generating excitement among fans. Despite being the captain of the Indian team, Rohit will play under Ajinkya Rahane’s leadership for Mumbai.

In addition to Rohit Sharma, Mumbai's squad features other notable Indian players, including Shreyas Iyer, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shardul Thakur, and Shivam Dube. This development follows a directive from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), which recently emphasized the importance of national team players participating in domestic cricket whenever they are not involved in international matches.

Several Indian cricket stars, including Virat Kohli, Ravindra Jadeja, Shubman Gill, and Rishabh Pant, have also expressed their willingness to feature in Ranji Trophy games, aligning with BCCI’s initiative to bolster domestic cricket.
