Jagan Is Your Foster Son… Agent of ‘Modani’: Sharmila Fires at Amit Shah

YSR Telangana Party President and Andhra Pradesh Congress Chief YS Sharmila launched a scathing attack on Union Home Minister Amit Shah, criticizing his recent statements regarding the governance of Andhra Pradesh. Sharmila alleged that Shah’s comments lacked accountability and claimed that even a chameleon would be ashamed of his duplicity.

Referring to Shah’s criticism of YSR Congress Party’s five-year rule as disastrous, Sharmila questioned the Union government’s silence during the same period. She accused Amit Shah of remaining a passive spectator while significant issues unfolded in Andhra Pradesh.

"You were in power at the Center during those five years. When Polavaram works were halted under the guise of reverse tendering, did you question it even once? When Andhra Pradesh was governed for five years without a proper capital, was the Centre blind to it? Did it not occur to you that borrowing ₹10 lakh crore recklessly would lead to devastation? Why did you remain silent on the murder case of Jagan’s uncle, YS Vivekananda Reddy, while the people fought for justice? Even as large-scale corruption unfolded, did your government expose a single instance?" she asked.

Sharmila further alleged that Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy was a puppet of the BJP, serving as their rubber stamp in Parliament and endorsing their bills. She claimed Jagan facilitated the exploitation of the state’s natural resources by a nexus she termed as “Modani,” alluding to crony capitalism. She accused the BJP of using Jagan and the YSRCP to loot Andhra Pradesh’s wealth for five years, only to shed crocodile tears now by calling it a disaster.

Blaming both Jagan and the BJP for the state’s plight, Sharmila declared: "If Jagan was the doer of destruction between 2019 and 2024, the BJP was its enabler. You deceived Andhra Pradesh for ten years by failing to fulfill the promises made at the time of bifurcation. Now, you promise support and ₹3 lakh crore as if it’s a fresh start. These promises are nothing but another betrayal."

Challenging Amit Shah, Sharmila demanded an immediate investigation by central agencies into the alleged corruption and governance failures during the YSRCP’s tenure. She emphasized that any commitment to justice would only be credible if concrete actions followed.
