Sanjay Roy Sentenced to Life Imprisonment in RG Kar Rape and Murder Case

In a case that shocked the nation, Sanjay Roy has been sentenced to life imprisonment for the rape and murder of a trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College in Kolkata. The verdict was delivered by the court, which also imposed a fine of ₹50,000 on the convict. The incident occurred on August 9 last year, when Roy was found guilty of sexually assaulting and murdering the doctor while she was on duty.

The investigation into the case saw several twists and turns, with initial doubts even cast on the involvement of the former principal of RG Kar Medical College. The Kolkata Police initially handled the probe, but it was later transferred to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
