Accused Claims Unawareness of Saif Ali Khan's Celebrity Status

Mumbai Police arrested Shariful Islam Shehzad, a Bangladeshi national, in Thane for allegedly breaking into Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan’s residence and attacking him with a knife. The accused made intriguing revelations during interrogation, stating that he was unaware of Saif Ali Khan's celebrity status at the time of the incident.

Shariful confessed that he entered the house thinking it was an ordinary property and assumed its occupant was just a regular person. He claimed to have realized the magnitude of his actions only after seeing news reports about the incident on television, prompting him to flee to Thane.

The accused further disclosed that after the attack, he switched off his phone and sought refuge at a labor camp in Thane. Explaining his method of entry, Shariful revealed that he accessed the property by climbing a staircase at the back of the house and scaling an air conditioning pipe to reach the interiors.

Mumbai Police continue their investigation to verify the claims and assess the security breach that allowed the accused to infiltrate the actor’s home.
