RBI Takes Key Decision on Bank Account Nominees
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has mandated the inclusion of nominees for all bank accounts, including newly opened accounts and existing ones. This decision was taken in light of the large number of accounts currently lacking nominees. The RBI noted that this issue persists across accounts in both public and private sector banks.

According to the RBI, the absence of nominees can cause significant difficulties for account holders' families in the event of the account holder's unfortunate demise. Without a nominee, accessing the funds in such accounts can become a complicated process for the deceased's family members. To prevent such issues in the future, the RBI has emphasized the importance of ensuring that all bank accounts have nominees registered.
