Spam Calls Under Control: Centre Launches Sanchar Saathi App

In response to the rising threat of fraudulent calls and spam messages faced by smartphone users, the Indian government has launched the Sanchar Saathi mobile app. This initiative aims to combat scams, prevent financial fraud, and ensure a safer telecommunications environment. The app was unveiled by Union Minister of Telecommunications Jyotiraditya Scindia on Friday.

The Sanchar Saathi app offers several features to protect users from spam and fraud. Users can directly report suspicious calls and SMS through the app’s call log functionality. Additionally, the app provides a way for individuals to check the number of mobile connections registered under their name. If unauthorized numbers are detected, users can file complaints to deactivate them.

Another notable feature of the app is the ability to block mobile phones in case of theft. Users can also verify the authenticity of mobile devices by entering the IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity) number. This feature ensures that stolen or counterfeit phones can be tracked and restricted effectively.
