Rohit Sharma’s U-Turn on Test Retirement Dissatisfies Coach Gautam Gambhir!

Speculation regarding Indian cricket captain Rohit Sharma’s retirement from Test cricket gained traction after he was benched during the final match of the recently concluded Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Sydney. Reports suggested that Rohit had held discussions with the BCCI about ending his Test career. However, addressing these rumors, Rohit clarified that his absence from the final Test was purely due to a lack of form, not a retirement decision, thereby putting an end to the conjecture.

According to a report by The Times of India, Rohit Sharma initially decided to retire from Test cricket following India’s fourth Test match in Melbourne. However, it is said that he reconsidered his decision after some of his close associates persuaded him to continue. Despite this reversal, Rohit’s change of heart reportedly did not sit well with coach Gautam Gambhir, who is believed to be quite unhappy with the sudden U-turn. The report claimed that Gambhir found it difficult to accept Rohit’s indecision on such a significant career move.

Rohit’s form during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy was notably poor. He played three Test matches and batted in five innings, accumulating only 31 runs. In four of those innings, he failed to reach double digits, managing just one double-digit score throughout the series.
