No More Intermediate First-Year Exams: AP Government's Landmark Decision

The Andhra Pradesh government has announced a significant reform in the conduct of Intermediate examinations, stating that from the next academic year, first-year public examinations for Intermediate students will be discontinued. This decision aims to reduce academic pressure on students, according to Kritika Shukla, Secretary of the Intermediate Board. She explained that these changes are being introduced in line with the National Curriculum Framework Act.

Kritika Shukla further stated that reforms will be implemented across subjects including Science, Arts, and Languages. Starting from the academic year 2025-26, NCERT textbooks will be introduced for Intermediate first-year students. She highlighted that this move will benefit students preparing for national-level competitive exams like NEET and JEE, as it aligns with the CBSE curriculum.

As part of the reforms, first-year public examinations will be abolished, and individual colleges will handle internal assessments and evaluations. However, second-year Intermediate public examinations will continue to be conducted by the Intermediate Board.

The government has invited feedback and suggestions on these reforms until the 26th of this month.
