In a pre-match press conference on Thursday, Team India coach Gautam Gambhir delivered disappointing news, revealing that pacer Akash Deep will be unavailable for the Sydney Test due to a back injury. Gambhir stated that the final playing XI would be decided after assessing the pitch.

This development poses a setback for India ahead of the crucial match. Akash Deep, who played in the Brisbane and Melbourne Tests, took five wickets across both matches. Despite some missed catches by fielders off his bowling, he showed potential for more dismissals.
