AP CM acts clever, not to stake claim over loss making PSUs
Hyderabad, Feb 23, 2015: AP Government has decided not to stake its claim over all the yet-to-be split Public Sector Units (PSUs) of united AP that will now be divided between AP and Telangana.
In a clever move, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has decided to stake claim only over the PSUs that are plush with funds and making profits and leave the loss making PSUs to Telangana.
He has also decided not to seek for AP all those PSUs which are not relevant to AP or which do not have any branches in AP fearing all these institutions will drain away the public exchequer and become white elephants over a period of time.
For this purpose, Chandrababu has appointed a specialists' committee to identify the loss making PSUs of united AP Government so that they can be left with Telangana Government.
The committee has been constituted with CS Rao, financial adviser to Government, C.Kutumbarao, vice chairman of the planning commission, K.Narasimha Murthy ,Financial expert and Yogeswara Sastry , Director, state planning department as members.
The committee will submit its report in the next two months. It will identify the profit making and relevant PSUs from among the 107 institutions listed in the 10th schedule of the AP Reorganisation Act and submit its report to the CM.
