15 injured as APSRTC bus turns upside down at Ongole

Ongole, Feb 23, 2015: Fifteen persons were injured , some of them seriously, when an APSRTC bus overturned and plunged into a roadside drain at QIS College junction near Ongole late last night. The injured were shifted to Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences here, according to police officials. Police said the driver applied brakes suddenly after he found a speed-breaker but another vehicle coming behind dashed against the bus resulting in the mishap. Under the impact, the RTC bus went out of control and overturned into a drain. There were 45 passengers in the Tirupati-bound bus coming from Srisailam when the accident occurred. Exactly one month ago, a similar accident took place at the same spot killing one person. The police have booked a case of negligence against National Highways Authority officials for not putting up sign boards at the speed-breakers.
