VH too seeks special status for AP
Hyderabad, Feb 22, 2015: Senior Telangana Congress leader V.Hanumanta Rao has announced his support to the demand that Centre grant special status to Andhra Pradesh as per the promise made by the then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in Rajya Sasbha during the adoption of the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Bill one year ago. "We also support the demand for the implementation of the assurance given by the Centre on special status for AP," Hanumantha Rao told news persons here today. Finding fault with the stance of Venkaiah Naidu over the issue, Hanumantha Rao said that it was Venkaiah Naidu who demanded a 10-year special status for AP first. It is not proper for him now to say there are problems in granting special status to the state, he said adding that Telangana Congress stands by AP on the issue. Opposing the land acquisition ordinance brought out by the Centre, Hanumantha Rao said they will oppose the ordinance in the forthcoming session of the Parliament and asked KCR to adopt a resolution in the assembly opposing the Centre's orsdinance.
