Capital farmers seek referendum on land pooling, conduct Deeksha
CRDA described as Chandrababu Real estate Development Agency
Guntur, Feb 16, 2015:In a sign of escalating conflict between the Chandrababu Naidu Government and the farmers of the Capital region, hundreds of farmers unwilling to surrender their fertile lands for Capital City construction had participated in hunger strike at Undavalli village on Sunday and asked the Government to conduct referendum over land pooling.
Leading the massive Rajadhani Rythu Deeksha, APCC chief N.Raghuveera Reddy and CPM state secretary P.Madhu described the CRDA ( Capital Region Development Authority ) as Chandrababu Real Estate Development Agency.
"It is not correct to take away the fertile lands freely from farmers and then handing them over to MNCs in the name of capital city development for higher lease amounts," they said, demanding that Government should conduct referendum on the issue and act as per the majority opinion.
Raghuveera and Madhu have suggested that the Government should construct the Capital city in the 35,000 acres identified by the APIIC in Guntur district.
"If you construct the capital in the land identified by the APIIC, that would not trouble any one. There is no need to convert the ever green farming lands into a concrete jungle," they told the Chief Minister.
