India beat Pakistan by 76 runs in World Cup

Adelaide Oval, Feb 15, 2015: India has defeated Pakistan by 76 runs in their opening match in the world cup here on Sunday. India rode on vice-captain Virat Kohli's 107 to score 300/7. Kohli got good support from opener Shikhar Dhawan (73) and Suresh Raina (74). For Pakistan, fast-bowler Sohail Khan took five wickets to restrict India in the fag-end of the innings. In reply, Pakistan were bowled out for 224. Skipper Misbah-ul-Haq (76) battled hard but ran out of partners. Pacer Mohammed Shami was the pick of the Indian bowlers taking four wickets for 35 runs in his nine overs. Pakistan scored 224 after Sohail Khan was caught by Umesh Yadav to a ball from Mohit Sharma. The loss of Pakistan to India in their first encounter in the world cup tournament does not make any difference towards their march in the further matches.
