Nagarjuna Sagar right canal gates opened

Nagarjuna Sagar, Feb 13, 2015:With Special Protection Force ( SPF ) officers' permission, AP revenue officials opened the right canal gates of the Sagar Reservoir today. SPF officers allowed the Gurajala RDO to remove the locks and open the gates after the officials showed them the AP Government orders. Earlier, the Telangana officials locked the right canal gates alleging AP has drawn excess water already from the reservoir. The Telangana government has also asked the Krishna River Management Board to decide on the allocations of water immediately to the two states. Expecting some action from the AP Government officials who are determined to open the gates, Telangana Government has deployed police force and a group of senior irrigation department officers at the Sagar reservoir to block the attempts of AP. Mild tension prevailed at the Nagarjuna Sagar reservoir sine this morning as both governments are at loggerheads over releasing water into the right canal.
