US arrests policeman who used third degree on Indian grandfather

Washington, Feb 13, 2015: Madison city police chief Larry Muncey has announced that one of the two police officers who used third degree methods on an Indian grandfather has been arrested and FBI is conducting a probe to find if the two police officers had violated any federal laws through their act. Addressing a press meet here today, Muncey has apologised for the incident in which the Indian senior citizen Sureshbhai Patel was wrongfully assaulted by the two police officers after he failed to understand and answer their questions as he did not have the knowledge of English. "I sincerely aplogize to Mr Patel, Mr Patel's family and our community," he told reporters, adding the police department would strive to exceed expectations henceforth. He said the investigators have found that the actions of Parker , who used third degree on Patel, did not meet the standards of the Madison Police department. "He has been arrested and I have asked for the termination of his services," he said and added: "The FBI is also investigating if there is any violation of federal laws on his part." Patel, who was beaten up by the two police men, is now in a paralytic state in a hospital undergoing treatment.
