Nagarjuna Sagar project becomes war zone

Nagarjuna Sagar, Feb 13, 2015: Tension has built up around Nagarjuna Sagar Project since early morning on Friday as officials of AP Irrigation department have camped at the project along with a strong police force to release 6000 cu-secs of water into the Right Canal from the reservoir. To block the efforts of the AP Government, Telangana Government too has deployed a huge police force and a batch of senior irrigation officials at the project. The presence of the officials of the two states , aided by police forces of the two sides, has heated up the atmosphere and turned the project into a war zone. AP Government is very angry after Telangana Government has stopped release of water into the right canal a few days ago alleging that AP has already overdrawn its share of water.
