Two Telugu students, who traveled to the United States for higher education, were arrested for shoplifting in a store in Hoboken, New Jersey. One of the students is a 20-year-old woman from Hyderabad, and the other, a 22-year-old woman, hails from Guntur. They are currently pursuing their studies in New Jersey.

On March 19, the two women visited a ShopRite store in Hoboken. They attempted to leave the store with some items without paying for them. The store staff detected their actions and informed the police, leading to their arrest.

The students pleaded with the police, promising to pay double the price of the items and assured that they would not engage in such activities again. However, the police did not accept their offer. The police made it clear that the regulations must be followed and that the arrested individuals had to be presented in court. Subsequently, the women were handcuffed and taken away.
