Chandrababu Naidu highlights increase in temple attacks under YCP government

Amaravati: During the occasion of Sri Rama Navami today, TDP leader Chandrababu Naidu extended his greetings to all. He reminisced about the development he contributed to at the Vontimitta Ramalayam in Kadapa district, associated with the festival. He also recalled a distressing incident from three years ago at the Ramateertham temple in Vizianagaram where the head of the statue of Lord Rama was desecrated.

Chandrababu Naidu alleged that since the YCP government assumed power in 2019, there has been an increase in attacks on temples, with incidents involving damage to temple chariots and assaults on priests. He mentioned the sanctity of several Hindu temples, including the highly revered Tirumala temple, being compromised under the current government, without any arrests being made in these cases.

Despite about 160 serious incidents that could be considered as "strikes on the sentiments of Hindu devotees," the government has been indifferent, aggravating the distress of the devotees, he claimed. In one such incident at Ramateertham temple, the statue's head was removed and discarded in the temple pond.

He announced that if the TDP-Jana Sena-BJP alliance comes to power, priority would be given to the protection and sanctification of temples in the state, promising development of temples like Vontimitta and Ramateertham and pledging to deliver governance that respects public sentiment, reminiscent of "Ramarajyam" (the rule of Lord Rama).
