Former CBI JD Lakshminarayana Analyzes CBI's Urgency in Questioning BRS MLC Kavitha

BRS MLC Kavitha, arrested in the Delhi liquor scam, is currently in Tihar Jail. Recently, the Rouse Avenue Court in Delhi has granted permission to the CBI to interrogate Kavitha. In this context, former CBI JD VV Lakshminarayana responded.
"Kavitha is currently under judicial remand. To question her, court permission is mandatory, which is why the CBI approached the court. Usually, during the interrogation of a woman, female officers are present to ensure the privacy of the person being interrogated is not violated, and female constables and officers are kept around.
The CBI's investigation will clarify everyone's role in this Delhi liquor scam. While the Enforcement Directorate (ED) investigates money laundering aspects... the CBI investigates based on corruption-related aspects. Within their jurisdiction, the CBI will file a chargesheet.
Since Kavitha has already filed an interim bail petition citing her son's exams, it seems the CBI is in haste. If Kavitha gets bail, questioning her would be difficult, which is why the CBI has taken steps to question her while she is in judicial remand.
Questioning her is only a part of the investigation. That's why the CBI went to court to get permission. At this stage, we cannot say the noose is tightening around her because the future of the case depends on whether the charges against her and the evidence collected stand in court.
A decision on Kavitha's bail petition is expected on Monday. After that, she can apply for regular bail in both the ED and CBI cases. Since Kavitha is seeking bail citing her children's exams, the court may consider her request. The court might consider granting bail, keeping in mind the need for a mother during her children's exams.
Hence, there is a possibility of granting temporary bail applicable only until the exams. Simultaneously, conditions like not influencing witnesses, not giving interviews to the media, and not making political statements could also be imposed. If the court does not grant bail, Kavitha can approach the Delhi High Court.
Kavitha is currently in ED's judicial remand. Therefore, the ED will attempt to extend her remand every 15 days.

Naturally, investigative agencies request the courts not to grant bail to the accused," Lakshminarayana shared his analysis.
