HC asks Cong leader to pay Rs. 32 Cr fine for illegal mining

Hyderabad, Feb 9, 2015: The High Court of Judicature at Hyderabad has on Monday directed mining baron and Congress leader Bharatsimha Reddy to pay a fine of Rs. 32 Cr to the Government for taking up illegal mining in Tharoor Mandalam of Mahabubnagar district. The court issued the above orders after hearing a PIL ( Public Interest Litigation) petition filed by an NGO that sought directions to him to pay the fine of Rs.32 Cr imposed by the authorities for carrying out illegal mining in the district. The apex court of the state has also asked Bharatsimha Reddy to stop his mining activities in the district immediately.
