Jayaprakash Narayan Criticizes the Use of CM's Image on Death Certificates

Hyderabad: Former IAS officer and Lok Satta Chief, Jayaprakash Narayan, once again made sensational comments on contemporary politics, expressing his disillusionment with the current state of politics and the bureaucracy. He lamented the growing trend of politicizing various aspects of governance, highlighting the absurdity of having the photo of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan on death certificates. He questioned the necessity and appropriateness of such actions, pointing out that even land ownership documents and survey stones now bear the CM's image, indicating a troubling level of political publicity.

Narayan expressed concern over the society's descent into mediocrity, exacerbated by leaders' actions, and stressed the need to halt this trend immediately. He also criticized the legal system for not being effective enough to counter such practices. Referencing a recent court ruling that prohibited the use of personal photos or names in government-sponsored advertisements except for the Prime Minister and the Chief Justice, Narayan questioned the rationale behind such exemptions.

Dismissing the judgment as neither landmark nor significant, he argued that it failed to address the root issues plaguing society, such as the growing culture of self-centeredness and the lack of ethical values among leaders. Narayan called for public dissent against this culture and welcomed the emerging opposition to dynastic politics as a positive development.
