A blow to YSRCP: Four MPs move away from the party

Amaravati: The ruling YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) in Andhra Pradesh is facing a series of setbacks as sitting Members of Parliament (MPs) are distancing themselves from the party for various reasons. Recently, YSRCP Rajya Sabha member Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy resigned from the party and his Rajya Sabha membership. He has written a letter to Jagan Mohan Reddy, requesting immediate acceptance of his resignation.

With Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy's resignation, the total number of MPs who have distanced themselves from the YSRCP has reached four. Vallabhaneni Balashowry, the MP from Machilipatnam, also resigned from the YSRCP recently and joined the Jana Sena Party. Lavu Sri Krishna Devarayalu, the Lok Sabha MP from Narasaraopet, has bid farewell to the YSRCP and is considering contesting the upcoming elections under the TDP-Jana Sena alliance. While Narasapuram MP Raghurama Krishnam Raju has not officially resigned from the party, he has been distancing himself from the YSRCP for a long time and has been critical of Chief Minister Jagan and the YSRCP government daily.

Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy is almost certain to contest from the Nellore Lok Sabha seat as a TDP candidate. Raghurama Krishnam Raju is contemplating contesting from the Narasapuram Lok Sabha seat, depending on which party, in the TDP-Jana Sena alliance, gets the nomination. Additionally, there are reports that two more MPs are considering resigning from the YSRCP.
