Hyd passport office tops list, issues 7 lakh passports during 2014

Hyderabad, Jan 29: A senior official of the Regional Passport Office (RPO) in Hyderabad said here on Thursday the office had issued 6.95 lakh passports during 2014 and it stood top among the 37 passport offices in India. RPO Hyderabad is said to have accepted 7.17 lakh passport applications during 2014, reports said. "During 2013, 6.56 passport applications were received and 6.32 passports were issued. This amounts to 13% growth as compared to 2013," according to the RPO official. The official had attributed this to the speedy clearance of police verification process. The RPO at Hyderabad covers 18 districts, including 8 districts of Andhra pradesh and the 10 districts of Telangana.
