Devarakonda, (Nalgonda dist), Jan 21: Renewing the appeal to join hands to usher in a welfare state, Sharmila has said the numerous welfare schemes rolled out during his tenure, made YSR popular among the multitude of people and he is still remembered for his proactive and practical approach. Addressing a road show here on Wednesday on the opening day of the Paramarsha Yatra in the district, Sharmila said, "YSR has always worked for the uplift of the weaker sections and has started a string of welfare schemes without imposing new taxes or increasing any tariff, which is the singular reason for winning the hearts of people." She also said, "His popularity among the masses has swelled beyond bounds making him a household name and his welfare schemes have benefitted the Telugu people immensely.”
