Gold hits Rs 28,500 mark

New Delhi, Jan 21: Driven by demand due to wedding season amid firming global cues, gold increased by Rs 320 to trade at Rs 28,500 per 10 grams on Wednesday, according to sources. Meanwhile, silver hit the Rs 40,000 per kg mark at the bullion market, sources said. Silver prices moved up due to increased industrial and coin makers' off take, they said. In New Delhi, gold of 99.9 and 99.5 per cent purity jumped by Rs 320 each to Rs 28,500 and Rs 28,300 per 10 gram respectively.
