AP aims to garner Rs. 75K Cr by selling 5000 acres
Hyderabad, Jan 18, 2015: Making clear its commercial intentions, the AP Government has decided to garner a whopping RS. 75,000 Cr by selling in auction 5000 acres out of the 35,000 acres being acquired for the purpose of state capital.
According to reports, Chief Minister Chandrababu has decided to have the main administrative capital in an area extending up to a length and width of 8 km and 1 km respectively in and around the villages Venkatayapalem, Uddandarayapalem and Borupaem foraying towards Guntur district from the Krishna River.
Assembly, Secretariat, Raj Bhavan will be constructed in an area of 4 Km X 1 Km area while major relaxation and recreational facilities like swimming pool, tennis, golf courts and some picnic attractions will be developed in another 4 Km X 1 Km area.
Only this 8 Km X 1 Km area will be under the direct government control while the rest of the 35,000 acres land being acquired from farmers will be handed over to private persons and corporate companies for developing various commercial interests.
5000 acres for educational, IT, medical infrastructure
While the government has decided to develop educational, medical and IT infrastructural facilities in 5000 acres, three 20-storied structures will come up in 3 acres each to house the head offices of 60 departmental heads.
Assembly, Raj Bhavan and Secretariat will come up in ten, ten and five acres respectively.2000 acres will be utilised for constructing the residences of employees, MLAs, Ministers and all India service officers.
Rs. 75,000 Cr to be garnered
The government wants to accumulate not less than Rs. 75,000 Cr and keep it in its coffers by selling 5000 acres in a open auction. It is aiming to sell each acre at rate of Rs. 15 Cr .
Rs. 1.10 lakh Cr sought from Centre
The AP Government has sought Rs. 1.10 lakh Cr from the Centre for constructing the capital city and other infrastructural facilities.
It has sent a written proposal to the Central Government seeking the said amount. However, the Centre has asked the state government not to send vague and abstract letters.
"Please send estimates for each proposal or construction separately with all the necessary details and requirements," the Centre asked the state government in a written communication.
