Censor Board empty, 12 members quit in protest
New Delhi, Jan 17: All remaining 12 members of the Censor Board resigned Saturday.
On Friday the board chairman Leela Samson resigned in protest surrounding the film "MSG: The Messenger of God,".
In their resignation letter to the Information and Broadcasting Ministry, the nine members are believed to have said, "It is our firm position that given the cavalier and dismissive manner in which the CBFC (Central Board of Film Certification) is treated by the government, it is impossible to perform this duty with even a modicum of efficacy or autonomy."
According to the outgoing board members their attempts to make film certification more transparent has been very frustrating.
The members are reported to have said that the advisory panel has been filled with people with questionable credentials.
