Chandrababu: Govt not in position to pay employees' salaries

New Delhi, Jan 16, 2015: Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu on Friday announced here that the financial condition of the state is very miserable and the Government is not in a position to pay even the salaries of the employees. Speaking to reporters after meeting Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley in New Delhi, he said Government paid salaries of last month deferring many important programs. Chandrababu said that Government has spent Rs. 1900 Cr for the restoration of civic amenities in Visakhapatnam after the Hudhud cyclone had left trail of destruction. Though Prime Minister Narendra Modi had announced Rs. 1000 Cr as compensation for the Hudhud cyclone, the Government had imposed several cuts in the name of guidelines, he said. Speaking about the Polavaram project, he said the Centre is only willing to bear the expenditure incurred on the project after it was declared as national project. "But we have asked the Government to compensate the Rs. 5000 Cr spent on the project before the announcement had come," Chandrababu revealed adding that he also sought the Centre's cooperation to conduct the Godavari Pushkaralu.
