Agri Gold issue snowballs as agent commits suicide

Hyderabad, Jan 6, 2015: In the wake of protests by hundreds of depositors opposite the Agri Gold offices across Andhra Pradesh for non-payment of their deposits, an Agri Gold agent committed suicide at Vemavaram in Ballikurava Mandalam of Ongole district today. It is learnt that the Agri Gold agent Sudhakar took to the extreme step of taking his life as he had mobilized deposits to the tune of Rs. 30 lakh from people. In the wake of the company defaulting in re-payment of its deposits, he felt aggrieved and committed suicide, according to reports. Meanwhile, a special CID team from Hyderabad has left for Eluru , the head quarters of Agri Gold company. The company has been collecting deposits from people for the last several years but of late its cheques started bouncing resulting in furious demonstrations in several towns.
