Direct flights from Vijayawada to Sharjah from today

Vijayawada, October 31: Direct flight from Vijayawada to Sharjah will start from today (October 31). Direct flights from Gannavaram airport to Sharjah will run twice a week. 
 
Airport Director Lakshmikantha Reddy informed that the inaugural flight will take off at 6.35 pm on Monday. The inaugural fare for Vijayawada-Sharjah is Rs 13,660 and for Sharjah-Vijayawada the fare will be AED 399. Machilipatnam MP Bala Shouri will welcome the first flight from Sharjah.
 
Earlier, there were no direct flights from Vijayawada to Sharjah, hence people have to go to Hyderabad. Now with the introduction of international flights, people can reach Sharjah within four hours. 
 
Air India Express CEO Alok Singh said these direct flights will help people going to Dubai and northern Emirates. He added that they will operate direct flights from Vijayawada to Muscat and Kuwait also.
